A major police operation is underway in Kingstanding, Birmingham, after two people were stabbed in the early hours of Saturday morning (March 22).
West Midlands Police have cordoned off two areas—near the Golden Hind pub on Kingstanding Road and along Hawthorn Road—as officers investigate the violent incident.
Man in Custody After Knife Reports
A police spokesperson confirmed:
"We have a man in custody this morning following an incident in Birmingham. We were called to Blenheim Way, Oscott, shortly after 6.30am today after a report of a man with a knife. Officers attended and arrested a man in his 20s. He remains in custody while our enquiries continue."
Emergency services quickly responded, and both victims were taken to hospital. Thankfully, police say their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.
Cordons and Community Disruption
Police tape has sealed off significant parts of the local area, disrupting traffic and prompting warnings for residents and motorists to avoid the scene.
"Our officers are remaining at the scene throughout this morning to gather evidence and speak to witnesses," the police added. "Motorists are advised to avoid the area while we carry out our enquiries."
Witness Appeal
West Midlands Police are urging anyone who may have been in the area around the time of the incident to come forward.
"Anyone who was in the area at the time the incident took place can get in touch via 101 or Live Chat, quoting log 659 of 22 March."
Community Reacts
