Thameslink services are in turmoil today after two tragic deaths rocked the network. Passengers are urged to avoid travelling amid widespread disruption.
Two Deaths, Two Stations: St Albans and Three Bridges Hit Hard
england/Waleswales/england/wales/british/”>british/”>British Transport Police were called to St Albans station at 9:15am following reports of a casualty. Sadly, the person was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigations into the circumstances are ongoing.
Just Overover an hour later, at 10:30am, emergency crews responded to another fatality at bridges/”>bridges/”>Three Bridges station. The victim was also pronounced dead on site. Authorities confirmed the second incident is not suspicious, with details being passed to the coroner.
Rail Services Ground to a Halt Across Southeast England
- No trains running between Luton and St Albans on Thameslink, Southern, and Gatwick Express lines.
- Services suspended between Gatwick Airport, Haywards Heath, and Horsham.
- Gatwick Airport station evacuated due to severe overcrowding.
- East Midlands Railway disrupted between Luton and London St Pancras International; no trains on Connect route from Corby to London.
- Great Western Railway terminating some trains at Redhill to avoid delays entering Gatwick.
Originally expected to clear by 1pm, disruption now looks set to drag on until at least 3pm, with the possibility of further delays.
