In the wake of a destructive break-in and vandalism at the Dukeries Leisure Centre, local authorities have made significant progress in their investigation. Two additional teenagers aged 14 have been apprehended by police, bringing the total number of arrests to three.
The incident occurred during the early hours of Sunday, June 23, when the leisure centre was targeted. Extensive damage was inflicted upon the facility, prompting its temporary closure to the public. Valuable items were also stolen from inside the premises.
The suspects were taken into custody on separate days. The first arrest occurred on Thursday, with the second following on Friday. Both individuals have been released on conditional police bail pending further inquiries. Additionally, a 15-year-old girl remains on bail in connection with the case.
Detective Sergeant David Smith of Nottinghamshire Police expressed his frustration at the mindless act of vandalism: “The leisure centre is a valued community resource that was forced to close due to this extremely costly incident. We are committed to identifying all those involved and holding them accountable.”
