Detectives investigating the murder of 16-year-old Lathaniel Burrell in Stockwell have made two further arrests, as the inquiry into the tragic shooting continues to gather momentum.
On Sunday evening, March 9, police arrested a 17-year-old boy on suspicion of murder. He remains in police custody for questioning. In a separate arrest, a 40-year-old woman was detained on suspicion of assisting an offender and possession with intent to supply Class A and B drugs. She has since been bailed pending further investigation.
Lathaniel Burrell Killed in Daylight Shooting
Lathaniel, from Stockwell, was shot and killed on Paradise Road, SW4, on the afternoon of Tuesday, March 4. Emergency services, including London’s Air Ambulance and the London Ambulance Service, rushed to the scene following a 999 call at 3:21pm, but despite their efforts, the teenager was pronounced dead at the scene.
His family is being supported by specialist officers as the investigation continues.
Ongoing Investigation and Court Proceedings
Omar Prempeh, 32, was charged with Lathaniel’s murder on Saturday, March 8, and appeared before Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Monday, March 10. He is due to appear at the Old Bailey on Wednesday, March 12 at 10:00am.
Police Appeal for Information and Footage
Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Lee, who is leading the investigation, issued a renewed appeal for information:
“Though we have made progress with this investigation, we continue to appeal for anyone with information about Lathaniel’s murder to please come forward and speak to us.
“We’re particularly appealing to anyone who was in the area of Paradise Road on Tuesday, 4 March, or who may have doorbell or dashcam footage from that time. Our priority remains tracking down those responsible and bringing them to justice.”
