Leeds Crown Court Hands Down Significant Sentences in Disturbing Assault Case
Two man have been sentenced at Leeds Crown Court for their roles in the sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl in Wakefield, in a case that has sparked wider discussions on child safety and online grooming.
Sentencing and Convictions
Kevin Balog, 22, from Bradford, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison, with an additional two-year extended license period, after being found guilty of rape.
His co-defendant, who is now 18 years old, received a three-year youth rehabilitation order for causing or inciting sexual activity with a child.
A Calculated Assault
Court proceedings revealed a premeditated series of events that led to the attack. The victim was lured to an address in Wakefield through arrangements made between the two defendants, who were 20 and 15 years old at the time of the offence.
West Yorkshire Police investigators uncovered damning messages between the defendants that indicated a clear disregard for the victim’s wellbeing and demonstrated their calculated intentions.
