Two men have been sentenced to lengthy prison terms for their involvement in a harrowing case of rape, sexual assault, and false imprisonment in Bradford. The sentencing follows their convictions for luring a female victim to a house where they subjected her to a terrifying ordeal in March 2023.
El Fadaidill Ibrahim, 29, of Queens Road, Halifax, was found guilty of rape of a female over the age of 16, false imprisonment, sexual assault, and intentional strangulation. Today, Ibrahim was sentenced to 13 years for rape, six years for false imprisonment, two and a half years for strangulation, and four months for sexual assault, all to run concurrently. Additionally, he has been ordered to register as a sex offender for life.
Mohammed Abou-Gardda, 30, of Pemberton Drive, Bradford, admitted to offences of sexual assault, false imprisonment, and common assault at a hearing in September 2023. He received a sentence of five and a half years for false imprisonment, four months for sexual assault, and four months for common assault, also to run concurrently. Abou-Gardda will be required to register as a sex offender for seven years.
The disturbing incident that led to these sentences occurred in March 2023 when Ibrahim and Abou-Gardda lured the female victim to a house in Bradford. Once there, they subjected her to a series of violent and degrading assaults.
Detective Inspector Richard Fox of the Bradford Adult Safeguarding Team, who played a crucial role in the investigation, welcomed the sentencing. “We welcome the sentence handed down to both men today. They lured the victim to a house and took advantage by raping and sexually assaulting her. They are dangerous men who deserve to be behind bars for a very long time. I would like to acknowledge the victim’s bravery throughout the investigation and trial. I hope today’s sentence can bring her some closure and justice in what was a harrowing ordeal.”
Inspector Fox also stressed the importance of taking reports of sexual assault seriously. “I hope this sentence provides a reminder to victims that we take all reports of sexual assault seriously and in confidence. We have a specialist team of dedicated officers who will support you throughout the investigation. If anyone has been a victim of sexual assault, please report it.”
The sentencing marks a significant moment of justice for the victim and underscores the ongoing commitment of law enforcement to prosecute and imprison those who commit such heinous crimes. The Bradford Adult Safeguarding Team continues to urge victims of sexual violence to come forward, ensuring their safety and the pursuit of justice.
