Investigators have charged two men in connection with the theft of a car during a robbery incident in Swanscombe. The incident, which occurred on Friday, April 12, 2024, left the victim shaken after he was allegedly approached by a man with a knife while standing next to his Mercedes in Stanley Road.
According to reports, the victim attempted to flee but was reportedly assaulted by a second man. During the altercation, the suspects stole the victim’s car keys along with his vehicle.
Later the same day officers from Kent Police seized a van in Dartford suspected to have been used by the perpetrators. Additionally, a mobile phone believed to belong to the suspects was recovered from the van’s footwell. The victim’s car was also found in Greenhithe.
Following an investigation by the Kent Crime Squad, which included the forensic examination of both vehicles and their contents, two suspects were apprehended on Thursday, May 9.
Brume Tadafe, residing at Taylor Close, Deptford, London, and Laurence Oyewole, of Sylvester Road, Finchley, London, have been charged with robbery. Mr. Tadafe, aged 34, and Mr. Oyemole, aged 40, were remanded to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Friday, May 10.
The charges signify progress in the ongoing investigation into the robbery incident, providing a sense of closure to the victim and the community affected by the crime. Authorities continue to urge anyone with relevant information to come forward and assist with the investigation.
