Emergency services were called to the scene of a serious road traffic collision on Southwark Park Road near Balaclava Road, Bermondsey, just before 6am this morning (Friday, June 20).
According to the London Ambulance Service (LAS), the incident involved two people, both of whom were treated at the scene by specialist medical crews. One person was later taken to a major trauma centre. Their condition remains unknown at this time.
Major emergency response
In a statement, a LAS spokesperson confirmed that multiple emergency resources were dispatched:
- Two ambulances
- A paramedic in a fast response car
- An incident response officer from the Hazardous Area Response Team
- A trauma team from London’s Air Ambulance, who arrived by car
“We were called at 5.59am today to reports of a road traffic collision in Southwark Park Road, Bermondsey. We treated two patients and took one to a major trauma centre,” said the LAS spokesperson.
Police comment awaited
The Metropolitan Police have yet to release an official statement regarding the circumstances of the crash. The road was partially closed during the morning commute, causing disruption in the surrounding SE16 area.
