Two pensioners have tragically died after being struck by a car in england/england/england/aldershot/”>aldershot/”>aldershot/”>Aldershot this morning. Police have arrested the 66-year-old driver on suspicion of drink or drug driving.
Tragic Morning Collision in Aldershot
The victims, aged 76 and 77, were walking along Fleet Road at around 6.30am when they were hit by a blue Skoda Fabia.
They were pronounced dead at the scene, suffering fatal injuries instantly.
Driver Arrested at the Scene
The driver, a 66-year-old man from Wokingham, was arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit through drink or drugs and causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving.
Hampshire Constabulary confirmed the arrest and launched an urgent investigation.
Police Appeal for Witnesses and Footage
“We are appealing for witnesses and dash Camcam footage following a fatal collision in Aldershot,” said a police spokesperson.
“Police were called at 6.35am on Wednesday, October 1 to reports of a collision involving a blue Skoda Fabia and two pedestrians.”
“We would particularly like to speak to anyone with relevant dash-Camcam or CCTV footage.”
The force is urging anyone who saw the crash or the moments leading up to it to come forward immediately.
