Two drug dealers have been sentenced to prison after Kent Police officers discovered cannabis and cocaine hidden in a tent near Faversham. The discovery followed a warrant executed on land near Hernhill in September 2022, where officers found a substantial stash of illegal drugs.
During the search, officers recovered 2.5 kilograms of cannabis, estimated to be worth £20,000, and 94 grams of high-purity cocaine, with a street value of approximately £8,500. The drugs were found in a tent as well as in a BMW parked on the property.
Anthony George, 57, was found at the site and arrested on suspicion of drug offences. DNA tests later linked George to the packaging of the cocaine, solidifying his involvement. Forensic experts also found a finger and palm print belonging to Karn Martin, 36, who was arrested at his home in Whitstable later the same day. Messages found on Martin’s phone indicated that he had been using it to offer and supply drugs to users throughout Kent.
Both George and Martin were charged with, and later admitted to, being involved in the supply of Class A and B drugs. On September 26, 2024, Martin, formerly of Florence Avenue, Whitstable, was sentenced to three years in prison at Canterbury Crown Court. George, of Highstreet Road, Hernhill, received a sentence of two years and ten months.
Detective Sergeant Jon Saxby, Kent Police’s deputy senior investigating officer, stated, “These two men thought they would avoid detection by hiding their drugs on a plot of land, but our actions show we will track down dealers wherever they are trying to operate and bring them to justice.
Saxby continued, “Work at the scene meant they were both quickly arrested, and our investigation gave them no alternative but to admit the charges. We will continue to disrupt drug network activity, especially that which fuels violence, and put those involved behind bars.
Kent Police have reaffirmed their commitment to tackling drug crime across the county and disrupting criminal networks that contribute to the spread of illegal substances and violence.
