In a bid to unravel the events of a disturbing incident that occurred on Monday, July 25, 2023, in Manchester city centre, police have released new CCTV images of individuals they wish to speak to. The incident involved up to approximately 200 youths causing a disturbance in and around the city centre.

According to detectives, a group of young people had been attending a party at a bar on Deansgate Locks. However, the gathering was shut down due to the perceived threat posed by both youths from within and outside the bar. Following the closure, the youths proceeded towards the city centre, leading to sporadic fights and anti-social behaviour.

During the course of their investigation, officers have already made four arrests. The arrested individuals, aged between 14 and 18 years old, have been detained on suspicion of affray and have been bailed pending further investigation. Recently, an additional two teenagers, aged between 14 and 16, were apprehended on suspicion of violent disorder. The arrests were made in South Manchester following early morning warrants, and the teenagers remain in custody for questioning.

Inspector Glen Rees of GMP’s City Centre neighbourhood team expressed gratitude for the public’s cooperation in identifying those arrested so far. He emphasised that their efforts to crackdown on the disorder that occurred on that fateful evening in Manchester City Centre continue. The police will be collaborating closely with local schools and colleges to identify other individuals involved.

In light of the latest developments, the police have now released new CCTV images of more individuals they seek to identify. Inspector Glen Rees urged anyone who recognises the individuals in the CCTV images or possesses information related to the incident to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.
