Two people have been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder following reports of a large fight outside Noor-Ul-Uloom mosque in Small Heath, Birmingham.
Incident Caught on Camera
Footage circulating on social media shows a group of men fighting outside the mosque, located at the corner of Sommerville Road and St Oswalds Road, around 5.15 pm on March 2.
West Midlands Police confirmed they were called to the scene and arrested:
- A 16-year-old boy on suspicion of violent disorder
- A 29-year-old man on suspicion of violent disorder and assaulting an emergency worker
Both individuals remain in police custody for questioning.
Police: ‘Not Linked to the Mosque’
Officers stressed that the incident was not connected to the mosque itself and that no one suffered serious injuries.
Chief Inspector Haroon Chughtai said:
“We have carried out enquiries and after speaking with various members of the community, and initial CCTV analysis, we are satisfied the incident is not linked to the mosque.
He added that reassurance patrols would be conducted in the area to address any community concerns.
No Paramedics Called to the Scene
Despite reports of a violent brawl, West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed that no paramedics were dispatched to the scene.
Investigation Ongoing
West Midlands Police have launched an investigation and are reviewing CCTV footage to establish the full circumstances.
