Staff members employed by the Transport and Salaried Staff Association (TSSA) have initiated strike action this week escalating their protest by one day each week until June 25. The cumulative industrial action will span 15 days, marking a significant development in the ongoing dispute with their employer.
The core issues at the heart of the conflict include workplace bullying, harassment, financial mismanagement, and deviations from established policies and procedures aimed at fostering an inclusive and positive work environment. TSSA employees are demanding that their concerns be taken seriously by union management.
Andrew Harden, GMB London Region Organiser, expressed frustration with the TSSA leadership’s lack of responsiveness during an ACAS meeting. He emphasised the gravity of the situation, stating, “Our staff members have resorted to unprecedented strike action because they believe it is necessary to compel our trade union employer to address their grievances.”
The strike is expected to significantly impact the TSSA’s ability to serve its members effectively. Harden urged TSSA members to question why union staff find it necessary to take such drastic measures against management, emphasising that union leaders should uphold the principles and ethics of the labour movement.
Despite the current impasse, TSSA GMB Staff representatives remain open to further dialogue.
