A Trowbridge man has been disqualified from driving for three years after a dramatic incident in which he fled from his moving vehicle, leaving it to roll onto a pavement and into a garden.
Incident Details
In the early hours of 22 May 2024, Blerim Losha, 31, of Yeoman Way, was driving at approximately 70mph in a 40mph zone along County Way when he failed to stop for Wiltshire Police’s Roads Policing Unit (RPU). Officer PC Richardson initiated the pursuit after noticing the excessive speed.
Losha continued onto Bradley Road, then Yeoman Way, before reaching Sleightholme Court. At the furthest point, he exited his vehicle while it was still moving, causing it to roll uncontrolled into a pavement and garden.
Arrest and Charges
Local response officers quickly located Losha at his home address in Yeoman Way, where he was arrested after failing a roadside drugs wipe. Subsequent testing confirmed he was driving above the specified drug limit.
Losha was charged with failing to stop for police, careless driving, and driving above the drug limit.
Court Outcome
At Swindon Magistrates’ Court on 13 November 2024, Losha pleaded guilty to all charges. The court imposed the following penalties:
- A three-year driving ban
- A £760 fine
- A victim surcharge of £308
- Court costs of £85
