The family of Arlind Xhokola, a 26-year-old man from London who tragically died after being hit by a car in Harlow, have paid tribute to him, describing him as a “loving, friendly, and supportive” individual who was “easy-going” and deeply valued by those around him.
Fatal Incident in Harlow
Arlind Xhokola lost his life following a collision on Momples Road at around 5:30 pm on March 29. Police are investigating whether the crash is linked to a robbery of a Ford Fiesta that occurred earlier that day at around 4:00 pm in nearby Pennymead.
Despite the rapid response of emergency services, Xhokola was pronounced dead at the scene, leaving the community in shock and mourning the loss of a young life.
Family Tribute: A Man Who Helped Everyone
In a heartfelt tribute released through Essex Police, Xhokola’s family expressed their deep sorrow, saying:
“Arlind wanted to help everyone. Friends and family counted on him for help and support. He was a mellow, relaxed, and patient man. He was respected and loved by many and will be missed.”
His girlfriend, who has chosen to remain unnamed, also shared her grief, describing him as a “lovely person and family-oriented since a very young age.”
“Arlind was working in construction to help his family, and he was always telling me that he wanted to create a family,” she said.
Arrests and Investigation
The investigation, led by the Serious Crime Directorate, has made significant progress.
- Jeremy Heath, 50, from Ladyshot, Harlow, has been charged with murder and possession of a bladed article in a public place.
- Heath appeared before Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday and has been remanded in custody until a preliminary hearing at Chelmsford Crown Court on Thursday.
Further arrests include:
- Three men from Harlow were arrested on Tuesday. Two, aged 39 and 50, remain in custody on suspicion of robbery and murder. The third, aged 42, was questioned on suspicion of assisting an offender and has been released under investigation.
- On Wednesday, a 37-year-old man from Harlow was arrested on suspicion of robbery and murder and remains in custody.
Police have confirmed that they are not currently seeking anyone else in connection with the incident.

Detective Inspector James Holmes, the senior investigating officer, expressed his gratitude to the community for their support:
“This was a complex incident and it’s taken time, patience, and hard work from my team, together with officers and staff across the force, to reach this stage. We’re determined to establish what took place that day and why, both to get answers for the family of a man who has lost his life, and for the people of Harlow who are understandably concerned.”
