In a heartbreaking incident, an 86-year-old man lost his life in a shooting that occurred on Saturday morning in the Auburn Gresham neighbourhood on the South Side of Chicago.
At just minutes before 10.00, Chicago police responded to reports of a shooting in the 8100 block of South Throop Street. On arrival, they discovered the elderly man suffering from a gunshot wound to his left thigh. Swiftly, emergency medical services were summoned to the scene.
Despite the immediate medical attention provided by first responders, the victim’s condition was critical. He was promptly transported to Christ Medical Centre in Oak Lawn for further treatment.
Tragically, the injuries proved to be fatal, and the 86-year-old man succumbed to his wounds while at the medical centre, according to a statement released by the Chicago Police Department.
