Brighton was shaken by a tragic incident as police arrested a 16-year-old boy on suspicion of murder following a stabbing on Queens Road on Thursday. Emergency services responded to the scene at approximately 5pm after receiving reports of a 17-year-old boy who had been stabbed.
The victim was swiftly transported to the hospital by the ambulance service, where he was, pronounced dead. His next of kin has been notified of the heartbreaking loss.
After an extensive search, authorities apprehended a 16-year-old boy who is now in custody on suspicion of murder. Detective Superintendent Andy Wolstenholme of the Surrey & Sussex Major Crime Team addressed the gravity of the situation, stating, “This is a tragic incident in which a young man has lost his life, and we understand the community will be shocked and alarmed.”
A rapid and thorough investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. Given the central location and peak time of the incident, an increased police presence will be maintained in the area. Detective Superintendent Wolstenholme urged the community’s cooperation, saying, “Officers have already spoken with many witnesses, but we would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or saw a man dressed in black leaving the area who hasn’t yet provided details to the police.”
