Dashcam footage has revealed how a tractor pulling a trailer crashed through barriers on the A20 bridge at Wrotham before plummeting onto the M20 below, leaving the driver seriously injured.
The collision happened at around 11.17am on Monday (18 August). Video captured moments before the incident shows the trailer becoming unbalanced as the tractor navigated a roundabout, causing the vehicle to lose control before smashing through the roadside barriers.
Emergency services, including an air ambulance, were called to the scene. The driver of the tractor, who has not been named, was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries. No other vehicles were involved.
The M20 was closed in both directions for several hours while recovery crews worked to remove the wreckage and carry out safety checks on the bridge structure.
National Highways said inspections were required before the motorway could be reopened, causing significant delays for drivers across Kent.
Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash, or who may have dashcam footage of the vehicle travelling before the incident, to come forward.
