Three people have been shot in Times Square, one of New York’s busiest tourist areas, in the early hours of this morning.
The victims — a woman aged 18, and two men aged 19 and 65 — were injured when gunfire erupted at West 44th Street and 7th Avenue shortly after 1am (EST).
Police confirmed that a suspect has been arrested, and all three victims have been taken to hospital. Their conditions are not yet known.
Footage from the scene shows emergency crews rushing to aid those lying on the ground, while another clip reveals a car riddled with bullet holes.
Eyewitnesses reported panic as people fled from the area after hearing multiple shots.
The incident comes just days after a separate fatal shooting in Manhattan involving a gunman who killed four people before taking his own life.
Authorities have urged people to avoid the Times Square area while investigations continue.
