A community has been left shaken after three school pupils were attacked, with two suffering stab wounds, in a violent incident in Bonnygate Park, just over the East London border in South Ockendon.
The attack took place at around 4.20pm on Thursday, 20 March, shortly after school hours. Emergency services were called to the scene, where they found three young people injured, two of whom had reportedly been stabbed. All three victims were taken to hospital, and none are believed to have sustained life-threatening injuries.
School Confirms Victims Were Pupils
The victims have been confirmed as students from Harris Academy Ockendon, a secondary school and sixth form located just five minutes from the park.
A spokesperson for the academy said:
"All of us in the academy are shocked by this incident and our thoughts are very much with our three students who were hurt on their way home from school. We are supporting them and their families in every way we can.
Thankfully, the emergency services responded promptly. We are grateful to Essex Police for being so visible in the community since yesterday, helping everyone feel safe and reassured."
Police Investigation Ongoing
As of now, Essex Police have not confirmed any arrests, and investigations are continuing to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. Officers have described it as a "serious incident", and have increased their presence in the area to reassure local residents and deter further violence.
Authorities are expected to provide further updates in due course.

The incident has sparked concern among parents and residents in the area, many of whom are calling for greater safety measures for young people walking home from school.
