A major police response was triggered in Wallington, South London, after three dangerous dogs reportedly escaped from a property, causing widespread concern and chaos among residents on Sunday afternoon.
According to numerous social media reports, the dogs were seen roaming the streets, chasing pedestrians, and creating panic. Several residents shared that emergency services advised people to stay indoors while officers responded to the situation.
Witnesses described scenes of confusion and fear. One local resident, Yvonne Bee, said the dogs chased her daughter down the street before kind passersby in cars and a white van intervened to help. “She got away okay, but I do hope nobody got hurt afterwards,” she posted.
Additional reports suggested at least one person may have been bitten before the dogs were captured. Police used dog control poles to safely restrain the animals, which have since been taken to kennels. “Firearms were only a last resort,” said eyewitness Jon Blay, praising officers for their response.
Angela Duncan later confirmed: “Dogs taken away by police. They are alive.”
Speculation on social media ranged from theories about prior sightings of aggressive dogs in the area to questions over how multiple dogs managed to escape simultaneously. “It makes you wonder how three large dogs could escape at the same time,” one commenter wrote.
Others expressed concern over whether the dogs might be put down, urging authorities to investigate the circumstances of the escape thoroughly before taking drastic measures. “I hope there’s no rush to kill them,” wrote one user.
Police have not yet released an official statement on the incident or confirmed whether any injuries were sustained. Helicopters were also reported to be circling the area as part of the operation.
Residents are now calling for stronger controls on dangerous dogs and better communication during such emergencies.
More details are expected as investigations continue.
