In a tragic turn of events, 42-year-old Scott Jackson lost his life following a brutal assault near the Butchers Arms pub on High Street, Thurnscoe. The incident, which occurred around 00.24 BST on Sunday, September 24, prompted a swift response from local authorities.
Scott was initially rushed to Sheffield’s Northern General Hospital and later transferred to the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, where despite the best efforts of medical staff, he succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday, October 3.
A murder investigation has now been initiated, and the three suspects, aged 25, 24, and 26, all hailing from the Barnsley area, are currently in police custody. Scott’s grieving family is receiving support from officers, who have released a photograph of the victim, urging the public to respect their privacy during this challenging time.
