This Evening, The Hampshire And Isle Of Wight Fire And Rescue Service Was Called To A Fire At The Partially Demolished Arcade On Ventnor Esplanade (tuesday)

  Several units have been dispatched to the seafront, where black smoke is billowing from the former Gaiety Amusement arcade. The noxious smoke is being blown inland by a strong sea breeze. The fire started shortly before 18:00, and only 15 minutes after an individual was about to enter the building. Two fire engines from Ventnor and Shanklin are currently on the scene, using jets to contain and extinguish the blaze. More equipment, including the Aerial Ladder Platform, is on its way.
