A third teenager has tragically died following a devastating car crash involving four teenagers in Tong, Shropshire, on Friday night.
Jenson Bridges, 17, from Brewood, Staffordshire, passed away in hospital on Sunday night (March 16)—two days after the horrific collision on Offoxey Road. His death follows the loss of Jacob Holeman, 17, from Codsall, and Simon Evans, 18, from Perton, Wolverhampton, who both died earlier as a result of their injuries.
Emergency services were called just after 11pm on Friday (March 14) to reports that a silver Audi A1 had crashed. Simon Evans was pronounced dead at the scene despite efforts from bystanders and paramedics. Jacob Holeman died the following day in hospital.
Another 17-year-old boy remains in hospital with life-changing injuries, but is understood to be in a stable condition.
The group had been travelling in the Audi A1 when the vehicle left the road and crashed. West Mercia Police have confirmed the car was seen travelling alongside a red Vauxhall Corsa and a black Volkswagen Golf shortly before the incident—though neither of those vehicles were involved in the crash itself.
Inspector Steph Arrowsmith, leading the investigation, said:
“Sadly, three teenagers have died and one remains in hospital with life-changing injuries in this tragic incident, and our thoughts are with all of those who have been affected.
We continue to carry out enquiries into the collision and I would like to thank everybody who has contacted us so far with information to assist with our investigation.”
Officers are now urging anyone who witnessed the collision, saw the cars in the area earlier that evening, or who may have dashcam footage, to come forward.
The tragic incident has shaken the local community, with floral tributes already appearing at the scene. Friends and family have described the three young men as “kind-hearted,” “bright,” and “full of life.”
No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Anyone with information is asked to contact West Mercia Police on 101, quoting incident reference 694 of 15 March, or submit footage or details via the force’s website.
