Police in Sheffield have confirmed the arrest of a third individual in connection with the tragic death of 23-year-old Hamza Mohammed. The arrest occurred earlier today, Sunday 16 June, as part of the ongoing investigation into the assault that led to Mr. Mohammed’s death.
The incident unfolded on Saturday 8 June at approximately 16:36 BST when emergency services were alerted to a serious assault on Staniforth Road, Darnall. Mr. Mohammed was discovered with severe head injuries and was promptly transported to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on the evening of Monday 10 June.
A 37-year-old man was taken into custody today on suspicion of assisting an offender and has since been released on police bail while enquiries continue. This follows the earlier arrests of a 23-year-old man on suspicion of robbery and a 25-year-old man for allegedly assisting an offender, both of whom have also been released on bail pending further investigation.
Police are urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in the murder investigation.
