A pedestrian has been rushed to hospital following a suspected hit-and-run collision in Stratford this afternoon.
Emergency services were called to The Grove, near the junction with Great Eastern Road, at just before 12:20pm after reports that a car had struck a pedestrian in the road.
The victim was treated at the scene by London Ambulance Service paramedics before being taken to hospital. The extent of his injuries remains unknown at this time, according to a Metropolitan Police spokesperson.
Driver Fled the Scene
Police confirmed that the driver of the vehicle fled the scene prior to their arrival. An investigation is now underway to trace the individual responsible.
“We are working to identify the driver involved in this incident and would urge anyone who witnessed what happened or has dashcam or CCTV footage to come forward,” said a police spokesperson.
Road Closures and Bus Diversions
A police cordon remains in place at the scene, causing disruption in the area. Bus routes 69 and 257 have been diverted as a result of the road closures.
