Tesco, one of the UK’s largest supermarket chains, is set to launch an innovative new campaign, offering millions of Clubcard customers the opportunity to collect £50 in Clubcard points through personalized challenges powered by artificial intelligence (AI).
Approximately three million Clubcard members will receive invitations to participate in the Tesco campaign, which aims to enhance customer engagement and reward loyalty. Upon acceptance, participants will receive 20 tailored challenges designed to suit their shopping habits and preferences.
The challenges will encompass a variety of tasks, ranging from purchasing specific products such as Tesco’s Summer BBQ range to adopting certain shopping behaviours like buying plant-based meals. Each completed challenge will earn the participant additional Clubcard points.
Customers will have the flexibility to select and complete any 10 challenges of their choice from the provided list of 20. Upon successful completion of the selected challenges, participants will be eligible to receive a maximum reward of £50 in Clubcard points, redeemable for discounts on future purchases.
Lizzie Reynolds, Group Membership and Loyalty Director at Tesco expressed excitement about the introduction of Clubcard Challenges, stating, “We are constantly looking for ways to make Clubcard work harder for our customers. With Clubcard Prices on around 8,000 products, it is saving customers up to £360 off the annual cost of their groceries.
Reynolds emphasized the importance of personalization in enhancing the customer experience and delivering meaningful rewards. She added, “Personalization is about using what we know about customers to make their experience better and our rewards more helpful, and we’re very excited to see how our customers respond to Clubcard Challenges.”
However, amidst the excitement of the new campaign, Tesco issued a warning to its customers regarding a phishing email scam targeting unsuspecting shoppers. The scam, falsely claiming to offer recipients a £500 Tesco gift card, directs victims to a fraudulent survey website designed to extract personal and financial information.
Tesco advised customers to exercise caution and vigilance, urging them not to click on any links in suspicious emails. Instances of phishing attempts should be reported to the appropriate authorities, such as forwarding the email to [email protected] and reporting phishing websites to the National Cyber Security Centre.
In a statement, Tesco reiterated its commitment to safeguarding customer data, emphasizing that the company would never solicit sensitive information such as passwords, Clubcard numbers, or banking details via email.
As Tesco prepares to roll out its Clubcard Challenges, customers are reminded to remain vigilant against potential scams and to take proactive measures to protect their personal information online.
