A 19-year-old man has pleaded guilty to the brutal murders of his mother and two younger siblings at their home in Luton last September.
Nicholas Prosper appeared at Luton Crown Court today, where he admitted to killing his mother, Juliana Falcon, 48, and his siblings, Kyle Prosper, 16, and Giselle Prosper, 13. The bodies of the three victims were discovered at a flat in Leabank, off Wauluds Bank Drive, on Friday 13 September 2024.
In court, Prosper calmly confirmed his identity before pleading guilty to three counts of murder. He also admitted to a string of firearms and weapons offences, including purchasing a shotgun without a certificate, possession of a shotgun with intent to endanger life, and carrying a kitchen knife in a public place.
He has been remanded in custody and will be sentenced on 5 March 2025.
Community in Shock After Tragic Loss
The murders sent shockwaves through the Luton community, with friends, family, and neighbours left reeling from the senseless loss.
A friend of Ms Falcon described her as a devoted mother who “lived for her children” and was “a positive person who will be so terribly missed.” Juliana, known for her warm and nurturing nature, was remembered as someone who dedicated her life to raising her children.
Schools Pay Tribute to the Siblings
Tributes poured in from the schools attended by Kyle and Giselle, both of whom were described as model students with bright futures.
The headteacher at Lea Manor High School, where Giselle was a Year 9 student, said in a statement:
“Giselle was a beautiful soul and a model pupil. She excelled in all her subjects and will be sorely missed, particularly by her friends in Year 9. We are deeply shocked and saddened by this tragic loss.“
Cardinal Newman Catholic School, where Kyle was a student, also expressed its condolences:
This is devastating news to all those who knew and loved Kyle. It will take some time to come to terms with the profound sense of loss. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Kyle’s family on their immeasurable loss, to his friends, and to all those in neighbouring schools who are coming to terms with their own loss.“
Ongoing Investigation and Sentencing
Bedfordshire Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the murders, though no motive has yet been publicly confirmed.
Detectives have praised the community for their cooperation during the investigation and have assured residents that they are doing everything possible to support the grieving family and friends.
Nicholas Prosper is expected to receive a life sentence when he returns to court next month, with the judge likely to consider the severity of the crime and the emotional toll it has taken on the community.
The tragic deaths of Juliana, Kyle, and Giselle have left a deep scar on Luton, as friends, neighbours, and classmates struggle to come to terms with the horrific events that unfolded within their community.
Support services have been made available at both schools and within the wider community to help those affected by the tragedy.
