A tragic incident unfolded on Mitcham Common yesterday evening as police officers recovered the body of a teenage male from Bidder Pond.

Emergency services were called to the scene at approximately 6.35pm on Wednesday, July 3. Despite efforts to save him, the teenager was sadly confirmed dead at the scene.

The deceased’s family has been informed and are currently being supported by specialist officers. The death is being treated as unexpected, and an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A police spokesperson stated: “At about 18:35 hrs on Wednesday, 3 July, officers recovered the body of a teenage male from Bidder Pond on Mitcham Common. Sadly, he was confirmed dead at the scene. His family has been informed and is being supported by specialist officers. The death is currently being treated as unexpected.
