A peaceful evening in the quiet seaside town of Newcastle, Northern Ireland, was shattered on Friday when a teenager was brutally stabbed multiple times in the Dundrum Road area.
According to the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI), the violent incident occurred just before 7:45pm on April 11. Emergency services rushed to the scene where a young man in his late teens was found with serious stab wounds to his face and head, believed to have been inflicted with a blade.
Two Arrests Made
Detective Sergeant McCartan, who is leading the investigation, confirmed that two males — one a teenager and the other in his 20s — have been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place. Both remain in custody as enquiries continue.
While the victim’s current condition has not been made public, the severity of the injuries has sparked concern across the community.
“This Kind of Violence Has No Place Here”
The PSNI has appealed to the public for any information that could help in piecing together the events of that evening. Officers are reviewing local CCTV and doorbell footage, and they believe witnesses may hold key details.
“This was a vicious and targeted attack. We urge anyone who saw suspicious activity in the Dundrum Road area to come forward,” said Detective Sergeant McCartan.
