Wiltshire Police detectives investigating the suspicious death of a man in Manchester Road, Swindon, have been granted additional time to question a 31-year-old suspect arrested on suspicion of murder.
The man was arrested yesterday (2 July) following the discovery of a seriously injured man on the pavement outside a property on Manchester Road at around 5:10am. The victim, believed to be in his 20s, later died in hospital.
Police Confirm No Other Suspects
Detective Chief Inspector Phil Walker, who is leading the investigation, confirmed:
"We are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with this tragic incident, and I would like to send my condolences to the family of the victim.
A broad search of the scene, which meant that Manchester Road had to be cordoned off, has now been significantly scaled back.
Members of the public will notice ongoing police activity, but the road is now open to traffic.
We appreciate the disruption that this will have had for those living in the area and I would like to thank them for their patience and support while this important work has been carried out."
Witness Urged to Come Forward
Police are continuing to appeal to a member of the public who first alerted officers to the incident but left the scene without providing contact details. Officers believe he may hold vital information.
Investigators are also appealing to anyone who was in the Manchester Road area in the early hours of Wednesday morning and may have:
- Seen or heard anything suspicious
- Dashcam or CCTV footage
