Investigation underway as officers appeal for public’s help in identifying assailants.

In a distressing event that unfolded in Hastings, a 13-year-old boy fell victim to a robbery and stabbing attack, prompting an appeal from the police for witnesses. The incident occurred at the junction of Southdown Avenue and Malvern Way at approximately 3:30 pm on Saturday, 10 February.

The young victim, hailing from Hastings, recounted a harrowing encounter with two males, strangers to him, who forcefully took his coat. In a shocking turn of events, one of the assailants stabbed him in the groin area before departing the scene with two females. This violent act led to the immediate response of emergency services, with police and ambulance crews attending to the scene.

The teenager was transported to the hospital, where he received treatment for his injuries, which were consistent with a stab wound. Fortunately, he has since been discharged and is currently recovering from the ordeal.

In response to this violent crime, a 15-year-old boy from Eastbourne has been arrested under suspicion of robbery and possession of a bladed article in a public place. Another teenager, also 15 and from Eastbourne, faces similar charges. Both have been granted conditional bail until 13 May as police continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack.

Additionally, a 13-year-old boy from St Leonards was taken into custody on suspicion of robbery. However, he has been released without any further action being taken against him.

Inspector Richard Breeze, of the Hastings Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “This is a fast-moving investigation and we urge anyone with any information to report it to us. There continues to be an increased police presence in the area while we carry out enquiries.”
