Brighton and Hove was once again dressed in a colourful spectacle of rainbow flags and symbols of love, unity, and protest, as the annual LGBTQ+ Pride Parade prepares to kick off today, Saturday, August 5th, at 11 a.m. Our city anticipates a grand display of solidarity and support for global LGBTQ+ rights.
Continuing the momentum from last year’s resounding success under the theme of Love – Protest – Unity, this year’s parade promises to be a vibrant affirmation of our LGBTQ+ community’s unity and resilience. The theme reflects three crucial pillars of the Pride movement:
Love – a declaration of love for all our LGBTQ+ siblings and confirmation that we will always stand together as a community
Protest – acknowledging that the Pride movement has its roots in protest and committing to continuing the fight for global human rights
Unity – as our hard fought for rights are being eroded around the world, a recognition that our differences make us stronger and commitment to campaign until all are treated equally.
