Canterbury, January 12, 2024 – A man is set to face court proceedings after allegedly perpetrating a violent assault with a baseball bat and initiating an arson attack on a property in Canterbury.
On December 11, 2023, Police responded to an incident at an address in Frencham Close, following reports of a brutal assault. It was reported that an individual had been subjected to a vicious attack involving kicking, punching, and a baseball bat assault. Subsequently, their room was set on fire.
The Kent Fire and Rescue team promptly attended the scene and effectively extinguished the fire. As a precautionary measure, residents in the vicinity were evacuated from the building.
The South East Coast Ambulance Service was also dispatched to the location and provided medical attention to the victim. The victim, who had sustained head injuries and suffered from smoke inhalation, was subsequently transported to the hospital for further treatment. Fortunately, the victim has since been discharged and is recovering.
Following a thorough investigation into the incident, the authorities arrested a suspect, identified as Will Crump, aged 35, residing at Frencham Close in Canterbury. On December 12, 2023, Mr. Crump was officially charged with grievous bodily harm with intent and arson with intent to endanger life.
Subsequently, Mr. Crump made his appearance before Folkestone Magistrate’s Court on December 13, 2023, where he was remanded in custody. He is now scheduled to re-appear before Canterbury Crown Court on January 15, 2024, to address the charges against him.
