A man remains in custody and four others are on bail following a serious assault that triggered a large police presence in Margate town centre over the weekend.
Emergency services were called to the top end of Margate High Street at 2.18pm on Saturday, 21 June, after reports of an assault in progress at a residential property. Officers from Kent Police, along with South East Coast Ambulance Service, attended the scene where a police cordon was quickly established.
A man sustained a cut to his arm and was taken to hospital. Police confirmed his injuries are not life-threatening or life-changing.
Multiple Arrests Made
A 32-year-old man from Margate was arrested at the scene and remains in custody as of Monday afternoon. Four additional people – two men in their 30s, a man in his 40s, and a woman in her 50s – were also arrested in connection with the incident. The latter four have since been released on bail.
Kent Police confirmed that some of the arrests were made on suspicion of criminal damage, while others were for assault.
Ongoing Investigation and CCTV Appeal
A full investigation is ongoing. Detectives are urging anyone with information to come forward, especially if they witnessed anything unusual or have private CCTV or doorbell footage from the area.
