A man has been charged in connection with an allegation of rape following an incident near the Lockmeadow leisure complex in Maidstone.
The reported assault took place during the evening of Monday, September 2, 2024, when a woman was allegedly sexually assaulted by an unknown man.
Gytis Lalinauskas, a 28-year-old from Tonbridge Road, Maidstone, was arrested on Saturday evening, September 7, and has now been charged with rape and theft of the victim’s laptop.
In addition, Lalinauskas faces further charges related to separate, unrelated offences, including possession of cannabis with intent to supply and possession of an offensive weapon.
Lalinauskas has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Monday, September 9.
A second man, aged 37, who was previously arrested in connection with the investigation on September 4, has been released without charge.
The investigation is ongoing, and officers continue to urge anyone with information to come forward.
