A suspected car thief has been arrested after a dramatic police chase through multiple back gardens in Kingstanding, shortly after officers spotted a cloned vehicle that had been stolen from Stourbridge.
Road Crime Team officers identified the cloned car in Kingstanding a short time after the theft and attempted to stop the vehicle. However, the driver refused to comply, leading to a brief pursuit.
The suspect decamped from the vehicle and attempted to escape on foot, running through several back gardens in an effort to evade capture. Officers, however, were in close pursuit and managed to detain the suspect after a short chase.
A West Midlands Police spokesperson confirmed the arrest, stating:
“Thanks to the quick work of our officers, the suspect was swiftly taken into custody, and the stolen vehicle has been recovered. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the theft and identify any further suspects involved.”
Investigation Ongoing
Police are now examining the stolen and cloned vehicle for forensic evidence and are urging anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage from the Kingstanding area around the time of the incident to come forward.
