Supporters of Tommy Robinson have shared updates regarding his current situation at Belmarsh high-security prison, where he is serving an 18-month sentence for contempt of court. According to recent posts, Robinson is currently held in a segregated wing where he served part of his previous sentence, but Belmarsh’s governor has informed him he may be relocated soon, either to the general prison population or to a more isolated cell “down the block.”
Supporters voiced concerns about Robinson’s security, noting the risk he could face if placed in the general population, particularly with inmates convicted of violent extremism. “Moving him into the main prison system would pose a major risk,” stated a spokesperson. Robinson’s alternative—“down the block”—would confine him to a basic cell without amenities like a bed or television, with additional security concerns due to inmate access.
Robinson’s supporters also highlighted the restricted nature of his visitation conditions, which they claim will require closed visits with family, conducted behind a screen. The decision, they argue, is disproportionate given the nature of Robinson’s offences.
Belmarsh Prison has not commented on these claims, and officials have not provided a timeline for any changes to Robinson’s current placement or conditions.
