Police were called to Stratford DLR station yesterday afternoon after a man claimed he was carrying a firearm, sparking a major emergency response.
Incident on the Tracks
At around 4.20pm on Saturday, 23 August, the man approached station staff and stated that he had a weapon. When officers arrived, he entered the tracks, refusing repeated requests to remain still for his own safety.
A police Taser was discharged to subdue him, before emergency crews, including the London Fire Brigade and paramedics, worked alongside officers to bring the situation to a safe conclusion.
Arrest and Hospital Check
The man was taken to hospital as a precaution before being discharged and arrested on suspicion of:
-
Trespass
-
Endangering the railway
-
A public order offence
He was later taken into custody where he remains.
Passenger Disruption
Services through Stratford DLR were temporarily disrupted while the incident was ongoing, though trains later resumed once the man was removed from the tracks.
