This incident coincided with an amber weather warning issued by the Met Office for strong winds across south London. The warning remained in effect until 8 pm on the same evening.
The Met Office had predicted that inland areas could experience wind speeds ranging from 40 to 50 miles per hour, with some locations possibly encountering gusts reaching up to 70 miles per hour. The stormy weather was accompanied by heavy rainfall, which may have impacted road visibility in various areas.
As the day progressed, the rain eventually subsided, allowing for clearer skies with occasional showers in certain regions. The forecast indicated that the windy conditions would persist into the afternoon, gradually easing as the evening approached, although the winds were expected to remain fairly strong.
