Sidharth Nair, a 29-year-old former hospital worker, has been sentenced to 13 years in prison for rape and sexual assault. The incident occurred at Whiston Hospital on the evening of January 30 this year. Nair pleaded guilty to rape and four counts of sexual assault, leading to his sentencing today at Liverpool Crown Court.
Detective Inspector Yoseph Al-Ramadhan expressed the gravity of the situation: “This was a shocking incident that had a devastating impact on Nair’s victim and her family. We hope that today’s sentence brings her some sense of justice as she continues to recover.”
Nair’s swift apprehension was crucial. DI Al-Ramadhan added, “Thankfully, we were able to detain and arrest Nair very quickly. His considerable prison term should allow his victim to start moving forward.”
Whiston Hospital played a vital role in supporting the investigation. DI Al-Ramadhan expressed gratitude, saying, “I would like to thank Whiston Hospital for their unwavering support throughout this process.”
DI Al-Ramadhan urged victims of sexual offences to come forward: “If you’ve been a victim or are concerned about someone’s safety, please speak to us. Our dedicated staff, along with partner organisations like Victim Care Support Service and RASA, are here to compassionately handle your reports and ensure offenders are brought to justice.”
