In a commendable display of vigilance and collaboration, a special constable teamed up with a regular officer to apprehend a suspected drug dealer and seize multiple bags of cocaine in Gravesend.
The incident unfolded on Sunday, May 5, 2024, as the two officers were on patrol near Kendall Gardens. Their attention was drawn to a man seated in a stationary BMW with the engine running. Suspecting his involvement in drug-related activities, the officers took swift action to detain him for a search.
During the search, the officers discovered cannabis and 18 bags of cocaine in a bag retrieved from a nearby garden. Additionally, approximately £3,500 in cash was seized from the suspect. With the evidence gathered, the man was promptly placed under arrest.
Further investigation led the officers to conduct a search of an address associated with the suspect. There, they seized a mobile phone and electronic scales, further bolstering their case.
Ryelee Yardley, a 21-year-old resident of Kendall Gardens, Gravesend, was subsequently charged by detectives from Medway CID. He faces charges of possessing cocaine with intent to supply and possession of cannabis. Yardley was remanded in custody and scheduled to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, May 7.
In addition to the aforementioned charges, Yardley was also bailed in connection with an offence of being in control of a vehicle while unfit through drugs.
