Southsea Canoe Lake Suffers Fourth Breaking

A Southsea café has been forced to shut as it cleans-up after the fourth break-in in eight months. Greens Café adjacent to Canoe Lake was broken into in the early hours of Bank Holiday Monday and, although no money is left on the premises, the would-be thieves caused hundreds of pounds worth of damage. In a statement Greens said, “Due to another burglary at Greens Cafe, despite no cash left in the building, we have to close for a couple of days. There was much damage done to the inside which needs to be repaired. “Please support us when we re-open later this week. We will let you know more details as soon as possible.” As previously reported this latest break-in comes as the soaring crime wave in the Southsea area has seen five other cafés and bars, and five retail outlets, all attacked in recent weeks with no noticeable increase in police presence. Police are appealing for anybody who may have seen anything suspicious around Canoe Lake at the time to call 101, quoting 441 7020 3292.
