Emergency services rushed to the scene of a serious road traffic collision (RTC) involving a trapped person on Chigwell Road at the junction with Maybank Road, South Woodford, E18, late Friday evening.
Firefighters Rescue Trapped Individual
At aroun 9:25pm, 16 May 2025, the London Fire Brigade was called to reports of a collision involving a vehicle with a person trapped inside. Crews worked swiftly to free the occupant, while police secured the area and those involved were treated by Paramedics from the London Ambulance service.
The incident took place near Maybank Road and Chigwell Road, prompting an immediate emergency response from a fire rescue unit that contains specialists cutting equipment with firefighters confirmed to have successfully rescued the person from the vehicle.

Metropolitan Police and London Fire Brigade units were on site in recorded time, and the trapped individual was released shortly afterward. There has been no official update on injuries at this stage.
Road Closures and Travel Disruption
Chigwell Road was initially blocked and closed at 9:25pm, with diversions set up at the junction with Maybank Road. The road was cleared at 10:10pm but then reinstated at 10:21pm, suggesting a second brief closure.
