Commuters faced disruption this lunch after smoke was reported on the tracks at Finchley Central Underground Station, leading to delays on the Northern Line.
Emergency services were called to the station, on Station Road, North London, following reports of smoke on the track shortly beforeĀ 12pm. The incident caused concern among passengers and resulted in partial service suspensions on the northbound section of the line.
Transport for London (TfL) confirmed the incident and stated that engineers and emergency crews were quickly dispatched to assess the situation.
A spokesperson for TfL said:
āWe were alerted to smoke on the track at Finchley Central Underground Station earlier this afternoon. Services on the Northern Line were held temporarily while the issue was investigated. Safety is always our top priority, and we thank passengers for their patience.ā
No injuries have been reported, and the cause of the smoke is currently under investigation. Services resumed with delays, and passengers are advised to check live travel updates before continuing their journeys.
TfL has recommended alternative routes for those affected, and additional staff were deployed at Finchley Central to assist travellers.
