Sixteen drivers were stopped and reported for traffic offences during a Kent Police road safety operation in Thanet, aimed at tackling dangerous and illegal driving.
The operation took place on Monday, 17 March 2025, and targeted areas in Ramsgate and Broadstairs, including Dumpton Park Drive and Pysons Road, following community concerns about unsafe driving behaviour in those locations.
Officers from the Neighbourhood Policing Team, working alongside the Road Safety Unit, monitored around 25 vehicles during the evening enforcement initiative.
Among the offences uncovered were:
- Speeding
- Tyres with insufficient tread
- Illegal turning in the road
- Incorrect or invalid insurance
One vehicle was seized for having no insurance, while another driver received an official warning for nuisance driving. Police confirmed that if that individual is caught driving in the same manner again, the vehicle could be seized, and further legal action may follow.
PC Andy Ballen, who took part in the operation, said:
“Everyone has a part to play in keeping our roads safe, and by carrying out enforcement action, it reminds people about the importance of driving in accordance with the law.
Operations like this are crucial for protecting the public and responding to residents’ concerns about road safety.”
Kent Police have confirmed that similar road safety operations will continue to be carried out across the district in the coming months to deter irresponsible driving and ensure compliance with road traffic laws.
