Detectives leading the investigation into the tragic murder of 43-year-old Koray Alpergin in Loughton last October have made substantial progress, with charges brought against several individuals. The victim was discovered near the Oakwood Hill Industrial Estate by Essex Police on the morning of October 15, 2022, and pronounced dead at the scene.
After a series of inquiries, the Metropolitan Police took the lead in the investigation, and detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command have been providing ongoing support to Koray’s grieving family.
Six individuals are currently on trial at the Old Bailey, facing charges of murder and kidnap. The trial commenced on September 18, and those facing charges include:
– Ali Kavak, 26, of De Quincey Road, Tottenham.
– Junior Kettle, 32, of Kingsdown Road, Islington.
– Steffan Gordon, 34, of Dehavilland Close, Northolt.
– Tejean Kennedy, 32, of Cricklewood Broadway, NW2.
– Samuel Owusu-Opoku, 35, of Dunbar Road, N22.
– Kyrie Mitchell-Peart, 32, of Grange View Road, N20.
Additionally, Erdogan Ulcay, 56, of Oakeshott Avenue, Camden, has been charged with perverting the course of justice and is standing trial alongside the murder accused. A 17-year-old man has pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice and awaits sentencing.
Further developments include the recent charge of Isay Stoyanov, 43, of Remington Road, N15, who is remanded in custody with a trial date set for July 1, 2024, at the Old Bailey.
While six other men, aged between 29 and 44, have been arrested on suspicion of murder and are currently on bail pending further inquiries, a 55-year-old man, previously arrested on suspicion of murder, has been released without further action.
