Asylum Seeker Busted in Underage Sex Sting
Al-Najjar Amir Abdulrahim, 30, a Gaza asylum seeker, now faces serious sex crime charges after trying to meet a fake 14-year-old girl for sex. Over a 57-day period, he engaged in explicit chats with what he thought was a child, a court heard.
Decoy Trap in Stockton-on-Tees
The Palestinian refugee, who was studying English at a college in Stockton-on-Tees, County Durham, arranged to meet the supposed girl. Police arrested him on the spot as he showed up to the meeting, ready to “engage in sexual activity.”
Facing Manchester Court Next Month
Manchester magistrates have remanded Abdulrahim in custody. He is charged with attempting sexual communication with a child and attempting to meet a child after grooming. He will appear at Manchester Crown Court next month.
Home Office Interview Adds More Questions
Earlier this month, Abdulrahim had an interview with the Home Office about his immigration status. But exact details on when or how he arrived from Gaza remain unclear.
