Two men have been convicted of the brutal killing of 33-year-old Ervin Baraku at Seven Sisters Underground station in north London, following a British Transport Police (BTP) investigation.
Kevin Nguyen, 21, of Westerfield Road, Tottenham, was found guilty of murder at Inner London Crown Court today (12 June). His co-defendant, Milumo Pedrinho, also 21, of Stonebridge Road, Tottenham, had previously pleaded guilty to murder on 24 April 2024.
Both men are due to appear at Inner London Crown Court on Monday, 16 June, when a sentencing date will be set.
The Attack on 23 July 2024
The court heard that on the morning of 23 July 2024, Nguyen and Pedrinho were in the area just before 9:00 AM when Nguyen got into an altercation with Ervin Baraku on the street near Seven Sisters.
Screaming and shouting were captured on CCTV as Ervin was chased into the station by Pedrinho, who was seen holding a large knife, followed closely by Nguyen. The pursuit continued down the stairs, where Pedrinho stabbed Ervin in the chest. Nguyen then fled the station, leaving Ervin collapsed at the top of the stairway.
Paramedics attended quickly and rushed the victim to hospital. Sadly, Ervin Baraku died of his injuries on 30 July, a week after the attack.
Arrests and Investigation
Nguyen was arrested on 24 July, with Pedrinho taken into custody three days later on 27 July.
Detective Superintendent Sam Blackburn of BTP described the murder as a “senseless and tragic attack.”
“There is absolutely no place for violence on the railway network,” he said.
“I’m glad to see both Nguyen and Pedrinho held accountable for their part in this brutal murder.”
“While no prison sentence can ever make up for the loss of a loved one, I hope justice being served can bring Ervin’s family some peace after this horrific ordeal.”
