A massive search operation is underway for Dr. Michael Mosley, the renowned Mail columnist and TV diet guru, who has gone missing after embarking on a coastal walk on the picturesque Greek holiday island of Symi. The 67-year-old, known for his appearances on television programs like This Morning and The One Show, as well as hosting the BBC’s Just One Thing health podcast, set off hiking along St. Nicholas Beach on Symi at 13:30 on Wednesday.
Dr. Mosley’s wife, Dr. Clare Bailey, raised the alarm when he failed to return by 19:30. Local authorities immediately began tracing his route overnight but were unable to locate him. Fearing that he may have “fallen from a height,” police have scrambled a search and rescue team from Athens, equipped with drones and sophisticated equipment, to extend the operation.
A community Facebook group on Symi has also appealed for information, sharing a picture of Dr. Mosley in shorts, a blue polo shirt, baseball cap, and sunglasses. The post implores locals and visitors alike: “Have you seen this man? He set off to walk back from St. Nick’s at about 1:30 p.m. and failed to make it home. His friends are concerned as it has been six hours since they last saw him.”
Dr. Mike Mosley is a familiar face for many British people due to his appearances on the BBC. The police and coast guard have been informed, and EMAK, the island’s rescue team, is actively involved in the search.
